Ingredients
- 2 Deli Kitchen Garlic Tear & Share Flatbreads
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 white onions, peeled, halved and thinly sliced
- Salt and black pepper
- 2 teaspoons white-wine vinegar (optional)
- 4 ounces Gruyère cheese, grated
Method
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Add the sliced onions and season with salt and pepper. Cover and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring once or twice, until the onions are softened.
- Uncover, reduce the heat to medium-low, cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until deep golden brown.
- If desired, once the onions are done, deglaze the skillet with vinegar and cook until the liquid has evaporated. Transfer the onions to a medium bowl and season to taste with salt and pepper. Wipe out the skillet, or wash it, if necessary.
- Add the cheese to the onions and stir to combine. Add additional salt and pepper if desired.
- Take the first Garlic Tear & Share Flatbread and scoop on half of the cheese-onion mixture. Grill until the cheese is melted.
- Next, sprinkle on more cheese, then place the second Garlic Tear & Share Flatbread on top of the first. Layer on more cheese, then grill until melted.
- Serve and enjoy!
